Jean-Marie Eveillard Retires as Senior Advisor

It is with bittersweet emotion that we note the retirement of Jean-Marie Eveillard as Senior Advisor to First Eagle’s Global Value team. He will remain a Trustee Emeritus of First Eagle Funds.

A disciple of Ben Graham and Warren Buffet, Jean-Marie launched the Global Value strategy in 1979, embracing a benchmark-agnostic, absolute-return approach to the prudent stewardship of client capital in equity markets worldwide. Over the years Jean-Marie built a legacy rooted in humility, patience, flexibility and, above all, a commitment to clients. This temperament continues to underpin First Eagle’s investment solutions, including our flagship Global Value and International Value strategies, oversight of which Jean-Marie entrusted to Matt McLennan in 2008. Though he stepped back from active involvement in portfolio management at that point, Jean-Marie continued to serve First Eagle and the Global Value team as a trusted resource, a sage mentor and a dear friend.

We are thankful to Jean-Marie for his innumerable contributions not only to First Eagle but to the investment management industry, and we wish him a long, happy retirement.
